Hæhæ Værà (/ˈhæhæ/ /ˈværə/ [happy] [disease; virus; flu]) is a temperate Town located in Highcliff Dutchy, Dànà Dûchû Provence, within the Dalandic Empire.

The name Hæhæ Værà is derived from the Wareneese language, as Hæhæ Værà was founded by Glepî Shèqthêv, who was culturaly Wareneese.

Climate

Hæhæ Værà has a yearly average temperature of 30°C (86°F), with its average temperature during the summer being a blistering 35°C (95°F) and its average temperature during the winter being a warm 26°C (78°F). Hæhæ Værà receives an average of 152 cm/y (59 in/y) of precipitation, most of which comes in the form of rain during the fall. Hæhæ Værà covers an area of nearly 5 km2 (2 mi2), and an average elevation of 916 m (3005 ft) above sea level.

Overview

Hæhæ Værà was founded durring the early 16th century in summer of the year 1518, by Glepî Shèqthêv. The establishment of Hæhæ Værà suffered from several major issues, resulting in the need to develop many solutions to basic problems. Problems such as a lack of fresh water, logistical support, poor quality tools, and the odd monster or two. Howeaver, these were overcome in time.

Hæhæ Værà was built using the conventions of Wareneese durring the early 16th century. Naturaly, all settlmentss have their own look to them, and Hæhæ Værà is no diffrent. The town's buildings feature waddle and daub construction with good timber frames and a stone foundation protected by thatched or shingled rooves. Most buildings with second floors are built in such a way as to overhang into the streets on the upper floors for more space, as building size seems to be the primary indicator of wealth within the community. Most buildings are not decorated with any integral features, but instead use ivy, flowers, and other natural elements in planters of on trellices to breathe life into the structure they grow upon.

Hæhæ Værà is is constructed arround a series of restrictive paverstone mainstreets which form overlapping circles, with smaller strait roads linking the circiles to eachother at varrious points. The town is protected by a renforced stone fence which sits atop earthwork defences, for some of the best inexpencive defences a town of Hæhæ Værà's size could have. The town's well-designed, yet cheep have recently undergone extensive repairs and renovations, such that the repairwork is imeadiently apparent and can be spotted due to the diffring ages of materials. One can't help but wonder what brought the need for those repairs to the town.

Hæhæ Værà seems to be abandoned at first. There are people present, working their trades and going about their business like any community, it’s just they are absurdly quiet. Just as you start to think there might be trouble, you see most of them are smiling, quietly exchanging words with a friend, or simply enjoying the day as they work. It reminds you of an evening at home as everyone dined, having run out of things to talk about and embraced the savory meal before them.

Hæhæ Værà has a Highwayman's Guild, which is tasked with maintaining the roads and highways leading into town as well as keeping them safe for travelers.

Hæhæ Værà has a public schooling program overseen by the Hall of Sages who has the responsibility of ensuring access to affordable high-quality education in all basic classes (Reading, Writing, Mathmatics, General Sciences, General Arcana, and Social Education) is made available to all citizens.

Hæhæ Værà has a public septic system, which allows its citizens to have indoor bathrooms. The septic system is overseen by the League of Sewerkeepers, who posses the legal authority to enforce all laws relating to the septic system, and are also tasked with its maintenance and upkeep.

Cultural Notes

There’s more than one leader in Hæhæ Værà, but at least some of them are at each other’s throats. It might be a conflict between formal leadership and informal authorities, or it could be a struggle among civil officials. Their interests might diverge sharply, or it could be a personal grudge that’s boiled over. Outside threats and internal problems are likely being ignored until the power struggle is resolved.

Hæhæ Værà's town hall was built using a different architectural style from the rest of the town. The style used is characterized by vertical proportions, pointed arches, external buttressing, and asymmetry in the general shape of its buildings. The decorative features of the style were key, consisting of large arched windows, pointed arches, vaulted ceilings, flying buttresses, and sculptures integrated into the structure itself. Occasionally, for very important buildings, an array of sculptures or one colossal sculpture might replace the entirety of the entrance to said building.

Due to the actions of local Kami, winter is long in Hæhæ Værà.

Hæhæ Værà's citizens partake in a curious ritual relating to their local kami. It takes place in summer and involves sacrificing an animal to channel Abjuration energies of tier 2 via moments of science.
